Site-specific installation created for Ifficial Arts Centre, Cologne. 1998. The overall project was called ‘Eight Days a Week’ curated by Jürgen Kisters and Georg Gartz bringing Liverpool based artists to a diverse range of venues and galleries throughout Cologne.
The building was originally built as an underground concrete bunker to shelter Cologne’s railway workers during the Second World War. Room size; 16mx3mx2m
I sieved dental plaster onto the concrete floor creating an illusion of rail tracks softly lit by knee-high lamps fitted along the walls. 500 photocopied images of railway tracks ran the length of the bunker’s walls at eye level alongside the original warning to workers not to smoke or talk.
