Solo exhibition at The Bonhoga Gallery, Shetland. 2012.
The exhibition was a result of a month long residency at The Booth, Scalloway, commissioned by Shetland Arts Development Agency in 2010.
Detail of ‘Compass’ created by sieving dental plaster through a stencil I designed in the shape of a compass. other materials LED light and hardboard.
The installation was titled ‘Those who left, Those who stayed’. My father and 2 brothers left the Islands for economic reasons whilst 3 siblings remained. My residency focused on how and if families continued to communicate when family left and the reasons for leaving.
I interviewed many people and added their stories to the installation.
In addition to the installation I exhibited a series of photographic works referencing the seas surrounding Shetland. Black and white photographs, 10 x 8. The Sea, Scalloway.
